Here at Sears Ready Mix we offer a variety of admixtures that can be added to your mix to help you achieve your goal. Please inform the dispatch office if you would like to add any of these concrete admixtures to your mix as they are not used in our standard mixes.
Accelerator is used to accelerate the set time of the concrete and to increase early concrete strengths. This admixture will allow you to finish your slabs sooner, strip your forms quicker, save on time and labor, and pour concrete in extreme cold.
Adding retarder to your concrete will have the opposite effect of accelerator, meaning that it will prolong the set time of the concrete. This admixture will give you more time to finish the concrete, increase the overall strength, and improve the quality of your masonry work. It is primarily used in the summer to delay the reduced set time from the extreme heat or when a job will be particularly time consuming.
The more water you add to the concrete the more it will affect the strength of the concrete. Using a high range water reducer allows you to make the concrete wetter for more workability without sacrificing overall strength.
If you are pouring a footing and foundation near the water you will inevitably encounter water when digging. This admixture seals the concrete so that the water will not penetrate into the interior of the wall.
Fiber is an ultra-thin monofilament fiber generally added to concrete when pouring slabs. It helps to prevent major cracks from forming down the line.
